A: Most pullout kitchen faucets have a vacuum breaker. Therefore, once you turn the faucet off it will drip for a few seconds to let any residual water out of the hose. This ensures a continuously clean faucet spout extending the life of your faucet.

Pressure balance valves will balance the hot and cold based on pressure. Thermostatic valves sense the temperature shift and balance the hot and cold water accordingly.
